General Hospital fans have been loving seeing James Patrick Stuart on their screens more, playing Valentin Cassadine. Even more, everyone seems to really enjoy the romantic relationship he has with Carly Spencer (Laura Wright). Fans would love to see him around for a long time to come, but is that just wishful thinking? Is James Patrick Stuart out as Valentin?
General Hospital: James Patrick Stuart’s Latest Project
There is currently tons of drama happening in Port Charles, and Valentin Cassadine is finding himself smack dab in the middle of it all. He has feelings for Carly now, but it’s also obvious he still loves Anna Devane (Finola Hughes). He wants to free her from the mental institution in France, plus bring down Russ Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) and Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota). Then throw in that he’s helping Carly destroy Jack Brennan (Chris McKenna) because he recruited Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) to the WSB.
Could it all catch up with him and turn deadly? It’s recently been revealed by Deadline that he joined a new project, Boot Lake. It is an indie thriller set in Tennessee that centers on a young woman who returns to her childhood home after discovering a diary filled with buried memories connected to her family’s past.
The synopsis goes on to say that as she starts uncovering the truth behind her mother’s death and a newly discovered inheritance, she becomes trapped in a growing web of manipulation, paranoia, and shifting loyalties. The deeper she digs, the more she realizes the people closest to her may not be who they seem.
The film does not currently have a film date. It adds to the already busy schedule for Stuart. So, is he leaving General Hospital?
Is He Leaving GH?
With so many irons in the fire, is James Patrick Stuart leaving General Hospital? Many have wondered about his contract status, and here are the details. Stuart appears to be used to a busy schedule. He has done voiceovers, films, television, and, of course, daytime drama.
As for his contract with GH, there is not one. 2026 reportedly marks the tenth year Stuart has appeared in the soap as Valentin Cassadine. He is on recurring status and likes it that way. He has previously noted that being recurring allows him the flexibility to do other projects. Plus, he feels honored that writers like his portrayal of the character that they keep bringing him back for more.
While anything is possible, it doesn’t seem like Stuart is planning on leaving the role anytime soon. There may be periods of absence, but hopefully, Valentin will be around for years to come. Who knows, maybe he will finally clear his name and have a real relationship with Carly.
