Young and the Restless fans are about to see what happens when Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) finds out about what’s been happening with Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope). She’s marrying his enemy, and not only that, she’s carrying Billy Abbott’s (Jason Thompson) baby. Both Grossman and head writer Josh Griffith are teasing fans about what earth-shattering impact this intense news will have on Adam. What is about to go down?
Young and the Restless Fans Will See Adam’s Reaction to Pregnancy
Of course, Adam and Sally have been broken up for quite some time. However, when Adam learns that Sally is pregnant and marrying Billy, he’s not going to take it well. Grossman said, “There’s a lot there. We will see how the storyline goes, but there’s a lot of story to be had there. I’m looking forward to seeing what they’re going to write for that.”
Head writer Josh Griffith spoke with Soap Opera Digest and teased what’s to come for Adam. He will find out on Tuesday about the pregnancy and engagement from none other than Billy himself. Griffith teased that this would affect Adam on a very profound level. He said,
“How could it not? Here is his enemy, a man that he despises, in love with and preparing to marry a woman that he himself lost— and they’re now going to have a child when Sally and he lost theirs. So this is going to be emotionally earth-shattering for him.”
Why Adam Will Be Shattered By the Big News
Griffith went on to address why this news will be so shattering for Adam. He pointed out that it’s not to get Sally back. Adam is truly in love with Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan). However, he will always feel protective of Sally. They will always be connected because of their deceased daughter, Ava. He said Adam “feels that Billy ultimately will do what he does and find a way to break her heart.”
Of course, this will also bring up feelings of losing baby Ava. Adam and Sally lost their daughter at birth, and now his mortal enemy is expecting a baby with her. Because of Adam’s feelings for Billy, he will also become protective of the baby, according to Griffith.
He said, “To have a child there in the middle of it, he’s almost feeling protective of that child — ‘If I can protect this child because I couldn’t protect the child that I lost, I will.’”
Griffith also shared that Sally and Chelsea want peace between these two men. However, Billy will never forgive Adam for the death of his daughter, Delia.
Adam will be able to keep his feelings hidden for a little while, but how long until he blows up?
