Two of The Young and the Restless most famous former stars will be returning to Genoa City for a short time. The first is Shemar Moore, who won a Daytime Emmy for his role as Malcolm Winters from 1994 to 2002. The second is Vivica A. Fox, who played medical student Stephanie Simmons from 1994 to 1995. The burning question for Young and the Restless fans is, when will these two fan favorites be back on-screen?
Young and the Restless Malcolm and Stephanie Surprise return
Both actors started filming again on Tuesday, February 17, and the shows will air in April as part of a multi-show arc. The show isn’t giving away much about the plot, but it did say in a press release that ‘Malcolm Winters (Shemar Moore) and Dr. Stephanie Simmons’ (Vivica A. Fox) surprising return has shocking and lasting effects on the people of Genoa City.”
The Young and the Restless History of This Dynamic Duo
Malcolm and Stephanie had a short-lived romantic relationship on Young and the Restless that started in 1994. Malcolm’s sister-in-law, Olivia (Tonya Lee Williams), set them up. She was also a coworker of Stephanie’s. The fling ended early in 1995, and Stephanie was no longer on the canvas. Malcolm’s relationship with Stephanie came after the infamous plot in which Malcolm slept with Drucilla (Victoria Rowell), who was married to his brother Neil (Kristoff St. John), while she was on cold medicine and thought he was her husband. Drucilla got pregnant with Lily (Christel Khalil) after that meeting, but it took ten years for the truth about who the father was to come out.
Shemar Moore Made It Big On Primetime
Malcolm was Moore’s big break. He won the 2000 Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, seven NAACP Image Awards, and two nominations for Hottest Male Star at the Soap Opera Digest Awards. He left the show in 2002, but came back for another run from 2004 to 2005 and made guest appearances in 2014, 2019, and 2023. Darius McCrary played Malcolm from 2009 to 2011. Moore went on to have a lot of success in prime time with long-running parts on Criminal Minds and S.W.A.T. He just finished making S.W.A.T. Exiles in Los Angeles.
