General Hospital cast and fans were stunned and saddened to learn of Anthony Geary’s death in December. He passed away on December 14 at the age of 78, following complications that occurred after a scheduled surgery. The show aired a tribute to him in January. Fans got to relive Luke and Laura’s infamous wedding day. However, that was not the only tribute the show had planned. Here are all the details about when the tribute will air and what will be shown.
General Hospital Luke Spencer Special To Air Soon, All The Details
General Hospital fans will get another chance to say goodbye to Tony Geary when the soap honors his legacy for a second time. The soap will once again honor Luke Spencer’s beloved character this week. There have been three legends from daytime drama pass away over the past year, including Geary, Tristan Rogers (Robert Scorpio), and Leslie Charleson (Monica Quartermaine).
The show already honored Leslie’s legacy during the show. Characters mourned her beloved character and relived memories of Monica’s influence in their lives. They will be honoring Tristan in the near future as well. In the meantime, February 20 belongs to Tony Geary. The dedicated commemorative episode that will air will revisit some of Luke’s greatest adventures on the soap, along with several rare moments.
Official spoilers for the week say, “The citizens of Port Charles find themselves reflecting on the man, the myth, the one-and-only Lucas Lorenzo Spencer.”
Previously, Executive Producer Frank Valentini said, “For decades, Tony Geary brought daytime television’s ultimate antihero, Luke Spencer, to life.” He continued saying, “We wanted to honor Tony and his extraordinary legacy in the most meaningful way possible, and this special episode of General Hospital gives viewers the opportunity to revisit some of Luke’s most iconic adventures and unforgettable moments, along with a few rarely seen ones. And who better to share those memories than the people of Port Charles who knew and loved him?”

Many Have Honored Geary Already
There are many General Hospital cast members who were affected by Anthony Geary’s death. One is Genie Francis, who plays Laura Collins on the show. She and Luke remain two of the most iconic characters in daytime television.
Upon hearing of Tony’s passing, she shared her thoughts and the dream she had of him the night he died. She said, “This morning I woke up and went into my husband’s arms. In my sleep, my life was flashing before me and I was afraid of death. An hour later, I received a call from Frank Valentini, he told me Tony died. I immediately felt remorse, I hadn’t spoken to him in years, but I felt his life end in my sleep last night, and with it a big part of me, and mine.”
Valentini also revealed that the night Tony died, he, too, had a dream about GH. He feels Tony was saying goodbye to them both. Others have also honored Geary and the legacy he leaves behind. Finola Hughes, who plays Anna Devane, also shared a tribute to the beloved actor.
He will be remembered and missed by all who knew him.
