Anderson Cooper, 57, has made a huge decision. He is leaving a network he has been with for nearly 20 years. Read on to find out why Cooper said he is leaving the network and why others think it is for another reason.
Anderson Cooper Negotiated a New Contract With CNN
Cooper reportedly spent recent weeks negotiating a renewal with CBS, but he decided to focus more on his work at CNN. Along with his long-running 8 p.m. show on the Warner Bros. Discovery-backed network, Cooper also hosts a Sunday long-form show called “The Whole Story” and a podcast that focuses on grief discussions and has grown in popularity.

The Real Reason Anderson Cooper Left CBS
Anderson said to Variety. “For nearly twenty years, I’ve been able to balance my jobs at CNN and CBS, but I have little kids now, and I want to spend as much time with them as possible, while they want to spend time with me.”
Some believe that Anderson left on his own because CBS did not renew his contract. CBS has huge shakeups going on daily. Daytime talk shows have lost multiple talk show hosts. Rumors that Gayle King at CBS Mornings is on the chopping block have been circulating for the past year, but her meeting with Bari Weiss squashed that, sealing her future at CBS. More layoffs are coming. Editor-In-Chief Bari Weiss has been cleaning house, and rumor has it that Anderson Cooper was on that list to go.

Anderson Has Nothing But Love For His Network Family
“Being a correspondent at 60 Minutes has been one of the highlights of my career. I got to tell amazing stories, and work with some of the best producers, editors and camera crews in the business,”
Anderson talked about how much joining the team meant to him before he left. “I have no idea how I became a correspondent,” he told the Television Academy in 2014. “I am thrilled to be a correspondent on 60 Minutes. It is a show that I’ve watched from the moment it started, I think—and we used to watch with my family and talk about stories that we’re seeing.”
The bottom line is Anderson Cooper says he wants to watch his kids grow up and not have so many things going on at once. Do you believe him or did he know he was on Bari Weiss’ list to fire soon?
