After a medical emergency, she had bariatric surgery in 2022. Since then, she has lost more than 500 pounds and is now around 200 pounds or less, as of early 2026. Tammy’s skin removal surgery in January of 2025 was filmed and aired, and it was very graphic.

Websites and fans speculated Tammy was 5’9″ when actually that number was way off. Amanda Halterman looks to be 5’9 or taller; she is the tallest of the female siblings. Amy Slaton Halterman was arrested for shoplifting in 2010; her mugshot says she was 62 inches, which is 5’2″. Amy has also confirmed she was 5’2″ on the show.
In season 3 episode 5, Tisa, the CNA, finally puts her foot down and makes Tammy walk. She tells Tammy she can’t push her in the wheelchair and that it is not good for her health. Tammy then stands up next to Tisa, who said on the show that she herself was 5’2″. These measurements in this scene would make Tammy around 5’1-5’2 and shorter than Amy, though she always looked much taller next to her, even on the interview couch.
Tammy’s weight had a lot to do with how much taller she looked. Tammy also has severely bowed legs, which also takes off a few inches from her height. Fans also speculate that her spine has been compressed for many years and has taken some inches off her original height. In that scene with Nurse Tisa, Tammy was at her heaviest, and she was still a little shorter than Tisa, so common sense says Tammy is probably around 5’0″ or 5’1″ with her severely bowed legs.

There were no accurate reports on her height before her massive weight loss because Tammy was never seen out of her wheelchair or sitting. Recently, Tammy accused Brittany of not being so sweet behind closed doors. She told TLC viewers she pushed her behind everyone’s backs.
