Duane Chapman, known as Dog the Bounty Hunter, and his wife, Francie Chapman, continue to mourn the loss of their 13-year-old grandson, who was shot and killed last summer. Dog The Bounty Hunter’s Stepson Charged In Death Of Grandson
People confirmed that Dog the Bounty Hunter’s stepson, 39-year-old Gregory Zecca, has been arrested for fatally shooting his son last summer. The Collier County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the arrest on their Facebook, He was arrested on February 3.
After months of investigation, Zecca is being charged with aggravated manslaughter of a child with a firearm and using a firearm while under the influence. If convicted, the manslaughter charge could carry a life in prison sentence.
The Sheriff’s office determined that Zecca had consumed a large amount of alcohol throughout the day on July 19. He then took more alcohol and marijuana to a friend’s home, where he and his son Anthony, were watching the latest UFC fight.
What Led To The Firearm Discharging?
Throughout the evening, Zecca would pull out his firearm from his waistband and dry fire the weapon. At first, the weapon was deemed safe and did not have ammo or a magazine loaded. However, at some point, a magazine was inserted into the firearm, and a round was chambered. Zecca fired one shot, which struck his son and fatally wounded him.
When police arrived on the scene, they did a toxicology screening on Zecca. His blood alcohol concentration was approximately 0.116 at the time of the shooting. The legal limit in Florida is 0.08.
Immediately following the shooting, Zecca was placed on a psychiatric hold and has since been released. Now, he is behind bars for killing his son.
Dog the Bounty Hunter and Francie continue to mourn the loss of their beloved grandson. They said in a statement that they are “grieving as a family over this incomprehensible, tragic accident and would ask for continued prayers as we grieve the loss of our beloved grandson, Anthony.”
The couple has not commented on Gregory Zecca’s arrest.
