The band 3 Doors Down announced on social media that Brad Arnold, one of the band’s founding members and lead singer, has died.
The statement says that Brad died peacefully early Saturday morning, with his wife, other family members, and loved ones by his side after he was diagnosed with cancer. The band says that Brad helped change the face of rock music through his work with 3 Doors Down. He wrote hits like “Kryptonite,” which he wrote while sitting through math class in high school.
“His music reverberated far beyond the stage, creating moments of connection, joy, faith, and shared experiences that will live on long after the stages he performed on.”
The statement goes on to say that Arnold was also a devoted family man and that his loved ones are asking for privacy right now. It also said “above all, he was a devoted husband to Jennifer”

The announcement brought condolences from all over the rock music spectrum. The love and respect poured in from countless bands and musicians.
Chris Daughtry said: “Sending my love to the Arnold family. Rest easy brother. You will be missed???”
The band Godsmack shared: “Rock in Peace Man, sending love to all his family, friends and fans. May his spirit and legacy live on through his music, that has touches so many souls. ????”
The group Sevendust added: “Rest now brother. Thank You for all you have given us.”
Jon Dretto commented: “Rest in peace? Brad will forever be in our hearts, in our playlists and spinning on our turntables ??”
Brad Announces He Had Stage 4 Kidney Cancer
This is the band’s first post since May 2025 that they shared a video of Brad saying he had clear cell renal carcinoma, a type of kidney cancer, in May. It was a stage 4 diagnosis because the cancer had spread to his lungs.
He said: “Thank you for all the memories so far. Now, I believe “ITS NOT MY TIME” is really my song. This’ll be a battle so we need our prayers warriors! Thank y’all for being the best fans in the world. We love y’all!”

Arnold had been with 3 Doors Down the longest. He sang and played drums when the band first got together in 1996. He was the only person in the group who stayed in the band from the beginning.
Arnold is the second member of 3 Doors Down who helped start the band to die. In 2016, guitarist Matt Roberts overdosed on prescription drugs and died.
