As Savannah Chrisley finished her time as a guest co-host on The View, her comments about Donald Trump sparked a fight among the panel. Several of the show’s regular hosts quickly disagreed with her defense of Trump. Is The View walking on a fine line by accusing President Trump of being a racist? They are already under investigation by the FCC; will they be next to be axed at ABC?
Whoopi Goldberg opened the show by discussing Trump’s mixed messages during Black History Month. It had clips of the president talking about his relationships with Black people, like Rev. Jesse Jackson and Nicki Minaj.
Savannah Chrisley Fights The View Ladies
Savannah Chrisley, whose parents, Todd and Julie Chrisley were pardoned by Donald Trump in May after being found guilty of tax evasion and bank fraud, said she understood why people were worried about his “rants,” but she drew a firm line at calling him racist. “It’s hard for me to see people say that the president is a racist because I’ve seen him in person.” Sunny Hostin quickly said, “He is a racist.”
Chrisley pushed back and said something personal: “He saved one of my best friends’ lives. A Black woman who has been with him for 18 years. Hostin didn’t change her mind and said, “So he has a Black friend.” He’s a racist.

Goldberg stepped in to explain why many Americans see Trump differently, saying that his administration has used executive orders to go after DEI programs. In particular, she mentioned the March 2025 order “Restoring Truth and Sanity to American History,” which led to the removal of 34 panels and video displays about slavery from Philadelphia’s Independence National Historical
The View: Whoopi & Sunny Unhinged, Calls President ‘Racist’
Whoopi Goldberg said “When you share racist posts about the Obamas. When you pursue the death penalty for the exonerated five, after you knew they had been exonerated. These are the reasons that his behavior is so hard.” Note, Whoopi Goldberg was also depicted in ‘Obama’, The Lion King video clip.
Then Hostin got triggered and doubled down, pointing directly to the Truth Social post as evidence of racism.
“Let’s call a thing a thing. Donald Trump is a racist. There’s no question in my mind,” Hostin said. “The most recent thing that he did by posting on Truth Social the Obamas depicted as apes in The Lion King, when there are no apes in ‘The Lion King’, that was a racist act. He tried to blame a staffer.”

President Trump Explained What Obama’s ‘Lion King’ Video Was About
President Trump said that the video was about cheating at the polls. He won’t fire the person who posted it. He went on to say: “I didn’t see the whole thing,” Trump said. “I looked at the first part, and it was really about voter fraud in the machines, how crooked it is, how disgusting it is. Then I gave it to the people. Generally, they look at the whole thing. But I guess somebody didn’t.”
