Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the Secretary of Health and Human Services, said that going to recovery meetings every day has helped him stay sober for 43 years. He shared some very intimate details on why he never feared the coronavirus pandemic.
Kennedy talked about his years of recovery from drug and alcohol abuse, including cocaine and heroin, on the podcast ‘This Past Weekend‘ with comedian Theo Von on Thursday.
With Von’s permission, the United States Secretary of Health and Human Services director said that he first met the comedian at recovery meetings in the Los Angeles area years ago.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. says the coronavirus pandemic never scared him because he lived through a time when he was snorting illegal drugs off of toilet seats!
Theo Von’s podcast had the Health and Human Services Secretary on it. He talked about why he thought he needed to go to 12-step meetings in person every day during the pandemic.
“I wasn’t scared of a germ,” RFK Jr. says. “I used to snort cocaine off of toilet seats.”

Theo and RFK Jr. used to meet in recovery meetings, but when the pandemic hit, the place they met closed. RFK Jr. says that a “pirate group” started their own in-person meeting while everyone else went online.
RFK Jr. says that at the time, he didn’t care what happened to him with COVID because he knew that his addiction would kill him if he didn’t get help. He was willing to take the chance of getting the virus.

RFK Jr. said, “For me, it’s survival,” when he thought about how important recovery meetings were to him.
Robert F. Kennedy has made huge headway with big changes, from the poisonous dyes in our foods to trying to combat childhood obesity and harmful child vaccines that are not needed.
