Real Housewives of Atlanta alum Kim Zolciak has avoided the possibility of jail after paying money she owed to a court-appointed guardian in her ongoing divorce from Kroy Biermann.
According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, a Georgia judge ordered Kim to pay $2,535 in outstanding fees to the guardian ad litem appointed in the couple’s divorce case. The guardian had been tasked with interviewing Kim, Kroy, and their four minor children to help make custody recommendations.
Kim Almost Went to Jail For Stiffing Guardian
The court order warned that if Kim failed to pay the balance by next month, she could have faced incarceration.
Sources familiar with the matter tell TMZ that Kim paid the full amount on Tuesday, July 14.
Kim has previously criticized the guardian, claiming her allegations of abuse and concerns about Kroy’s parenting were not being taken seriously.
Kroy, meanwhile, has alleged that the children have experienced mental abuse while in Kim’s care. He has also said Kim believes the guardian was biased against her, a claim he has dismissed.
Kim and Kroy’s contentious divorce has stretched on for years, with the former couple continuing to battle over custody and child support.
A few months ago, Kim lost temporary primary custody of the four children, while she and Kroy were granted joint legal custody. The decision came after Kroy accused Kim of neglect and alleged that she was more focused on her public image and career opportunities than on their children’s well-being.
Meanwhile, Kim’s adult daughter, Brielle Biermann, recently revealed she has not spoken to Kroy in quite some time and does not expect him to attend her upcoming wedding.
Brielle also weighed in on the ongoing conflict between Kim and Kroy, saying she does not believe her mother should lose custody of the four minor children she shares with Kroy. She argued that she and Ariana are proof of Kim’s parenting, saying they both turned out just fine.
