Patrick Muldoon passed away at the age of 57. Deadline confirmed that the actor, who was best known for his roles in Days of Our Lives, Melrose Place, and Starship Troopers, died suddenly on Sunday, April 19.
Muldoon was the first person to play Austin Reed on Days of Our Lives. He played the role from 1992 to 1995 and again from 2011 to 2012. He also played the bad guy Richard Hart on Melrose Place from Seasons 3 to 5 and was in a lot of TV movies in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
Jake Getman, an actor, paid tribute to the star on Instagram by posting a picture of the two of them at a red carpet event from the past.
“RIP Patrick Muldoon. 🕊️Worked with him when I was 8 on Little Dead Rotting Hood — a great guy and always kept the energy light.”
Two days before he died, Muldoon posted on Instagram to talk about how excited he was about a new project.

Filming now in Australia 🇦🇺,” he wrote alongside a photo of a Deadline article announcing news of the film. Muldoon added the hashtag “#producer” in his caption.
Patrick Muldoon was a big fan of music. He was always the life of the party and was often seen with his guitar. He was the lead singer for The Sleeping Masses.

People who knew him well said he was “endlessly generous” with his poetry, humor, and “unmistakable presence.” They also said he “loved animals and people alike, gave unforgettable hugs, and had a rare ability to make others feel safe and seen.” “He was stylish, charming, and full of life. He lived each day to the fullest, like a rock star.”
Muldoon, whose loved ones called him “Bobo,” is survived by his partner, Miriam Rothbart; his parents, Deanna and Patrick Muldoon Sr.; his sister and brother-in-law, Shana and Ahmet Zappa; and their children, Muldoon’s niece Halo and nephew Arrow Zappa.
