Alaskan Bush People fans were shocked to hear that Matt Brown was missing. Reports came in on May 27 that a man was seen floating in the shallow waters of the Okanogan River in Okanogan County, Washington. The caller who notified police said that they turned around briefly, heard a noise, and when they turned back, he was floating face down in the river and being swept away by the current. Bear Brown has addressed fans regarding the situation. Here is what is known about what happened to Matt Brown.

Recently, Alaskan Bush People star Bear Brown addressed the talk surrounding his brother Matt on May 28. He noted that Matt had a lot of personal struggles going on and had done some things that fans didn’t even know about. Bear encouraged everyone not to send him money, as this only fuels his addiction. He also shared that Matt distanced himself from the family. None of them tried to cut him out.

Bear returned to TikTok to share another post about Matt after saying he wouldn’t talk about him again. He said he had terrible news and that it appears that Matt is dead. On May 30th, Bear confirmed Matt took his own life. Bear has now updated his fans.

Bear Brown Confirms Matt’s Tragic Death

Tonight Bear Brown has confirmed it was his brother, Matt, in the river floating. Noah Brown had to identify Matt and helped rescuers pull the body out of the water. Bear Brown, getting very emotional, said he never thought Matt would do something like this. He was always afraid of him overdosing but not taking his own life. Bear said it was a self-inflicted wound. With tear-filled eyes, Bear recounted what happened to his brother and how they found him.

 

 

He went on to say that Matt had gone through a breakup recently as well and struggled with addiction for years. He also pleaded with fans to be kind to their mother. He said comments have been harsh.

Saturday morning in the early hours, Josh “Bam Bam” Brown posted the following to his Instagram Story stating that if somone you know is struggling with mental health that help is available. He then gave the 988 number to call for immediate assistance.

Prior to Matt’s disappearance, he shared videos that indicated he was not okay.
