My 600-Lb Life Season 5 star Steven Assanti is considered by many to be one of Dr. Now’s most controversial patients. He appeared on Season 5 at over 800 pounds. He also had his brother, Justin Assanti, by his side. Both were suffering from severe obesity and had to rely on each other to turn their lives around. Steven ended up being violent towards the medical staff, resulting in him being kicked out of the facility. Dr. Now required him to undergo therapy to battle his painkiller addiction. But despite all the help he’s gotten over the years, many fans have found out that he’s still doing questionable things. He even caused a major clash among fans online. Keep reading to see what happened.
‘My 600-Lb Life‘: Steven Assanti’s Journey On The Show
Unlike many patients of Dr. Now, Steven had a rough journey. He barely lost any weight and had so many ups and downs during his episode. But Dr. Now’s tough love motivated him to keep going. Eventually, the My 600-Lb Life star dropped down to 432 lbs. He was also on and off social media for years. Steven was hustling on Cameo before suddenly disappearing. He has also shown signs of struggling financially. Many fans were also concerned about his worsening teeth. It was previously revealed that Justin and Steven are no longer on talking terms. Justin is now living happily with his wife, though he has also kept a more discreet life after their episode. But while some fans scour the internet for more news about Steven, one person discovered a shocking video of him, resulting in a heated debate.

Fans Attack Each Other Over Steven
Some My 600-Lb Life fans on social media react to an old YouTube video of Steven being racist. According to the OP, Steven said racist words 27 times in the video. He was acting as if he mistook butter for Nutella while spreading it on his face. Steven was pretending to be “Jerome” in the video, which is a character he made up. Many people believe it’s not an excuse for him to be racist. But the discussion later turned into a clash, as one commenter frustratedly asked why some people are still giving Steven attention.

One person replied, saying that the one who posted Steven is “autistic.” The full comment reads, “OP is autistic. I’m pretty sure this might be a special interest type of thing which is why they may be hyper posting this topic(I’m autistic too).” This led to a heated debate in the comments section. Some are still upset towards the OP for stalking Steven, while others think calling the OP “autistic” isn’t right.
- “That wasn’t what I was commenting on. I was asking why would we give Steven the pleasure of knowing we were getting all worked up over his behaviors. (* He has a Reddit account). I don’t want Steven having the pleasure of seeing responses and feeding into them to generate more drama or using inflammatory hate speech to get a rise out of people. He is mentally unwell and would manipulate the exposure.”
- “I beg of you to get a hobby op. Your obsessive hyperfixation on this is both unhealthy and also annoying.”
- “Great OP for perpetuating it and giving him a platform. Seriously, just stop.”
- “Have you tried shaming any mentally well people?”
