The filming of Tammy Slaton’s surgery was hard to watch for some 1000-lb Sisters viewers; it was very detailed and kind of horrifying at times. Her results are amazing, and Tammy continues to thrive.
1000-Lb Sisters Tammy Slaton Lost Over 500-Lbs
Her sister, Misty Wentworth, weighed in, “Oh my God, she looks great,” Misty said on the show. “When she started, she weighed 730 lbs. and we couldn’t even get her to walk to the mailbox. Now she’s lost 500 lbs. I mean, that’s a couple of people, not just one person! I am so proud of her, it’s just unreal.” Tammy said on the show recently that she is now 185 lbs.
TLC also filmed Tammy’s mom seeing her for the first time after her dramatic skin removal surgery. It was a sweet and emotional moment with her mom saying the last time she saw her daughter this size was in elementary school. Tammy said on the show “I mean, I was always big, I was big from birth. Mom keeps saying, when I was like, two and three, she would have to buy adult clothes just to fit me.”
Tammy had a lot of loose skin all over her body after her successful bariatric surgery. On January 18, 2025, Slaton had her skin removed. Doctors took off “over 15 lbs.” of extra skin from her chin, arms, and lower stomach during the 8-hour surgery.

Some fans are concerned about how Tammy’s scars are healing. Some have even expressed concern about how thin she is now.
The main surgeon did say that Tammy would have to do everything in stages. The torso and thighs are stage 1, and the lower legs will be next. Who knows what else is planned? She had a procedure done on her throat area, and she mentioned that fat cells were injected into her cheeks to reduce some lines.
