Wendy Williams’ niece and goddaughter announced some sad news about her aunt’s father. Wendy’s 94-year old father, Thomas Williams Sr, has passed away. Alex shared on her Instagram a beautiful montage of pics and videos as a tribute to his life.
Wendy Williams Spent Her Dad’s Last Birthday With Him
The famous TV personality said that she had to live in an assisted living facility on a memory floor, where she couldn’t use her bank accounts, credit cards, or phone, and she was even separated from her beloved cats.
Wendy Williams was able to leave the facility where she was on lockdown to visit her father, Thomas, on February 18th, 2025, which would be his last Birthday.
She has been in a convalescent home for years under guardianship, claiming she had frontotemporal dementia. It has been an endless fight, but last December 2025, TMZ reported that the specialist who did neurological tests on her in New York found that she does not have frontotemporal dementia. Her fight is still on, but for now, her focus is on her new heartbreak, losing her father, Thomas, whom she loved so much.
Wendy Williams’ niece Alex Finnie shared a heartfelt tribute:
“I’ll be loving you always.
“It is with an extremely heavy heart that I share — after 94 years of extraordinary love, strength, brilliance, and wisdom, my grandfather Thomas D. Williams has passed.
“I know he is in heaven with Nana, watching over our family and continuing to guide us as he always has.
“My grandfather was truly a man of great intellect — an author, educator and keeper of historical facts. Papa poured into both family and community. I miss him tremendously.
“I’m a little lost for words right now, but I love you endlessly Papa. Give Nana a kiss for me.”
