General Hospital star Avery Kristen Pohl announced she’s back to filming. Pohl made her debut on the hit daytime drama back in 2021 when she portrayed villainous Esme Prince. She played the part until her character seemingly died in 2024. Pohl did make a brief comeback at the end of 2024 in Laura’s nightmare. Her incredible portrayal of Esme landed her a Daytime Emmy Award nomination in the Outstanding Guest Performer category in 2025. Now, Pohl is back to filming. Keep reading for all the latest details.
General Hospital Villain Avery Pohl Back To Filming
News outlets and Avery Kristen Pohl herself shared that she’s back to filming. While it’s exciting to see this talented actress back on set, some fans may be very disappointed. Pohl is filming again and has landed the role of a lifetime. However, it’s not with General Hospital.
It’s been reported that Pohl is taking on a new acting project. Pohl will be starring in the new Netflix film, Scooby-Doo: Origins. The film is currently in production in Atlanta. Some of the actors and the parts they will play have been released. But unfortunately, the majority of the roles are being kept under wraps for now. This includes the role Pohl will be playing.
Joining her on set is another soap star, Mckenna Grace, who played Faith on Young & the Restless. Grace will be playing Daphne Blake in the film.

What Is It About?
According to the official synopsis, the film will be a “modern reimagining of the iconic mystery-solving group of teens and their very special dog. During their final summer at camp, old friends Shaggy (Hagen) and Daphne (Mckenna Grace) get embroiled in a haunting mystery surrounding a lonely, lost Great Dane puppy that may have been a witness to a supernatural murder. Together with the pragmatic and scientific townie, Velma (Abby Ryder Fortson), and the strange, but ever so handsome new kid, Freddy (Maxwell Jenkins), they set out to solve the case that is pulling each of them into a creepy nightmare that threatens to expose all of their secrets.”
The new flick is expected to debut worldwide on Netflix in 2027.
