Kate Gosselin is reportedly panicking over a forthcoming tell-all memoir written by her son, Collin Gosselin, according to Radar Online.
Collin has announced plans to reveal details about the “abuse, injustice and exploitation of children” in his book, In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood. Kate, 51, her ex-husband Jon Gosselin, 49, their twins Madelyn and Cara, 25, and their 22-year-old sextuplets were featured on TLC’s Jon & Kate Plus 8.
Collin, one of the sextuplets, has been estranged from Kate for years. She sent him to a mental health institution when he was 12.
Collin Allegedly Diagnosed With ADHD
He was reportedly diagnosed at the time with autism, ADHD, and bipolar disorder.
“Writing this book forced me to revisit some of the hardest moments of my life, but it also gave me something I’ve been searching for a long time – my voice,” Collin shared on Instagram. He said he was institutionalized so Kate could “protect her reputation” after he began revealing her alleged abusive behavior to others. He also stated she visited him only once for about 30 minutes.
News of the memoir, set for release on October 13, has apparently caught Kate off guard, especially since she and Collin have not communicated since he was sent to the facility, an insider claims.

Reevaluation Says Collin Does Not Have Autism or ADHD
After spending two years in the institution, Collin went to live with his father, Jon, and his sister Hannah.
“Kate didn’t expect any of this to ever come out,” a source said. “Now she’s spiraling because she knows it’s about to hit the fan.” Collin also criticized her parenting in a 2023 Vice documentary, saying she “drove a barrier” between him and his siblings.
Kate responded to the claims at the time, stating: “My son Collin, whom I love with all my heart, has received multiple psychiatric diagnoses over the years.
“For the safety of myself, his brothers and sisters, and for his own well-being, he was placed in a facility following years of outpatient treatment which proved insufficient for his needs.”
As an adult, Collin was reevaluated, and mental health professionals determined he did not have any psychiatric conditions.
Collin Gosselin Joins Season 5 of FOX’s Special Forces
On July 15th, the network announced Collin would appear on Season 5 of Special Forces. It seems like Collin could have a really big ending to 2026 with the release of his tell-all book and his appearance on Special Forces.
An interesting twist is that Collin’s estranged mother was on season one of Special Forces but was sent home on day one. She ended her run after a serious neck injury on the first day of the show when she fell backwards out of a helicopter into the open ocean in a challenge. Collin has also accused Kate of stealing his Jon & Kate Plus 8 money in his new book.
