According to a reliable Duggar news source, Counting On’s Johannah Duggar is engaged to David Swanson, and the couple is planning a September wedding.
This information comes from the Duggar Family News: Life is not all pickles and hairspray Facebook page, which is known for sharing accurate Duggar updates.
“I have found out, through a vetted source, that spunky little [Johannah] Duggar is engaged and planning to be married in September,” the page announced on Thursday. At first, the page hinted at the identity of Johannah’s fiancé and encouraged members to guess who it was.
A few hours later, the page confirmed that Johannah’s fiancé is David Swanson.
If the last name Swanson sounds familiar, that’s because David is the younger brother of Josiah Duggar’s wife, Lauren Duggar (formerly Lauren Swanson).
There has been another connection between the Duggar and Swanson families as well. James Duggar once courted David’s sister, Lydia Swanson, though that relationship ended before they got engaged.
David Swanson is one of ten children born to Dwain and Lana Swanson. The Swanson family appeared on an episode of 19 Kids and Counting called “Duggars Do Dinner” in 2010. At that time, there were only five Swanson children, including Lauren and David. Dwain Swanson owns a landscaping business and started Courageous Men of the Word, a group of over 400 men dedicated to growing in faith, praying together, and encouraging each other.
Johannah is currently 20 years old, and David Swanson turns 23 later this month.

James and his fiancée Lydia shared a wedding registry with the wedding date of May 21st, 2026.
Among the items on the registry are a touchscreen calendar, various gift cards, and reusable seal packs. Although no one from the Duggar family has officially confirmed the wedding, some Counting On fans think the rumor is probably true.
