General Hospital fans were distraught when Steve Burton left the soap for some time off with his new bride. The last time fans saw Jason Morgan was when the WSB was hauling him off to some prison in an unspecified location. Now, Jason is making his big comeback to Port Charles on July 13. However, ahead of the airing, Burton is teasing fans about big changes coming for Jason. What did he share?
General Hospital Steve Burton Reveals Big Life Shift For Jason
General Hospital fans are excited to have Jason Morgan back in Port Charles. However, Steve Burton revealed in the latest episode of the That’s Awesome podcast with Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) that some fans might not be too happy with a big shift coming. Burton has been back on set since June 1, and while it’s been a whirlwind, it sounds like he likes the direction writers are taking his character.
Burton said, “Been a lot going on. Had a lot of good scenes. And it’s good, man. We’re shifting directions a little bit, which is gonna be interesting for fans, so get ready!” Anderson wasn’t going to let it slide that Steve mentioned a “shift,” so he pushed for a bit more information.
Anderson pressed Steve to find out if the change was coming for the entire show or just for Jason. Burton said, “Everything that has to kind of do with Jason and his world. That’s where the shift is going to take place.”
Steve had big praises for the writing crew and the job they’ve done, giving him new material to work with. He said it will be interesting and shake things up. Burton also teased that when he left, there were a lot of questions, and some of those will be addressed, while others won’t. Fans may not learn everything that happened to Jason while he was away.
Head Writers Also Tease Big Change Coming
Steve Burton isn’t the only one teasing big changes for Jason Morgan. Head writers Elizabeth Korte and Chris Van Etten also shared with Soap Opera Digest that Jason’s life is going to change in big ways. They said, “Jason returns from abroad a changed man. His imprisonment has had a profound effect on his outlook, and how he intends to conduct the rest of his life.”
They also said his decisions will impact everyone near and dear to him, including Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard).
The next big question is how Jason’s life will shift. Will he become a WSB agent as some fans have guessed? Perhaps he was brainwashed while in captivity to be an agent. Or, maybe he just decides life is too short to live a life of crime and in danger helping Sonny. The trauma he just endured might make him focus more on Danny and building a clean, stable life.
