General Hospital fans have been introduced to many new characters in recent weeks and months. There has not been a major shakeup, though, as far as recasts since Rory Gibson joined the show as Michael Corinthos. Now, things are going to look different for one character and even more so in the near future. What major shakeup is about to take place this week?
General Hospital Cast Shakeup Hits Port Charles
General Hospital spoilers reveal that a Port Charles resident will be showing a new look this week. GH had to temporarily recast a role before making a permanent change, so let’s discuss this complicated situation.
Fans may already know that Kayden Brenna Tokarski has taken over the role of Scout Cain (previously played by Cosette Abinante). The character is being aged up, which will be noticeable on-screen when Tokarski debuts in July. However, there was a scheduling conflict during this transition.
While Cosette Abinante was still recurring in the role, she was unavailable to film the episode airing on Wednesday, June 17. Soap Opera Digest reports that Reagan Park will play Scout for just that one episode, so her appearance will be brief. Don’t get used to seeing her on screen.
Tokarski will be the permanent recast for Scout when she appears next month. This is not the first time GH has used temporary recasts to keep filming on schedule. Earlier this year, Patrick Scott Lewis stepped in briefly for Daniel Cosgrove as Ezra Boyle. In past instances, viewers have seen temporary recasts for characters like Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms), Lucky Spencer (Jonathan Jackson), and others.
Sometimes, this is just part of the soap opera world, and performers who step in on short notice are appreciated for keeping the storylines moving.
Tokarski Bringing Teens Years To Scout’s Character
After Reagan Park’s short stint as Scout, fans can look forward to Kayden Brenna Tokarski’s take on the character. Tokarski’s permanent casting will let her participate in some compelling teenage storylines for Scout.
It’s evident that the show is making significant changes behind the scenes, adding new cast members and preparing exciting plots. Big developments are expected this summer, so stay tuned for all the latest news on cast changes.
If you’re concerned about new faces, familiar characters are also returning. Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) and Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) will be back soon, bringing exciting comebacks. Plus, on July 13, viewers will catch their first glimpse of Dean Geyer in the role of Tristan Roberts. Serena Baldwin will also come home to Port Charles in the form of Kelly Kruger (ex-Mackenzie, The Young & the Restless), and Troy Lennon Appel will join the cast as mysterious businessman Hudson.
